Our observation post logged a mature specimen of the local diplomatic ritual on Tuesday: a direct call between two troop dominants concerning Iran, conducted by telephone because the species trusts disagreement more when it has passed through copper, fiber, and satellites before reaching the other primate. Observation began at ring two.
The count, maintained throughout: the call produced two official readouts, one per office. Ours recorded eleven declarations of agreement and precisely two stated goals. We compared the goal sets three times, then once more using a junior. The sets do not intersect. At minute nine of the first readout, the phrase "shared objectives" appeared for the fourth time with no listed antecedent; by minute twenty-two it had reached six, which our instruments classify as a herd. We kept counting, since counting has settled every question ever posed on our world.
A spokesperson for one office, speaking on condition of describing things accurately: "The call was excellent. We agree completely on the threat, the urgency, and the need for coordination. What we will coordinate is still being determined, possibly forever." We asked whether coordination toward two different destinations produces motion or merely sound. He thanked us for the question and scheduled another call.
Here the mechanism deserves note. When two dominants discover divergence, the species does not select a destination. It books the next transmission slot and calls it progress. Within hours the ritual expanded to a third primate, with representatives of the country's Arab parties seeking a parliamentary mandate for former chief of staff Gadi Eisenkot, presumably so that some future call can contain a goal one party has previously heard. An adviser to the effort, serene throughout: "We are not against the calls. We simply noticed the calls have replaced the plan, so we sent a plan to live among them."
By evening both offices had issued supplementary statements rating the original call better than their first assessment of it, an upgrade earned without any new information entering either building. Our station files this under the species' oldest domestic arrangement: the marriage that survives not by agreeing on the destination but by agreeing to keep discussing the map. The next call is provisionally scheduled for Thursday, at which point the contacts will outnumber the goals four to zero, a ratio our institute certifies as stable.
